A new era begins!

Gregor Kraus started his career in the company as an apprentice in August 1995.
On January 30, 1999, he passed the journeyman’s examination with very good grades in the skill and knowledge test. In the practical performance competition of young craftsmen in 1999 at chamber level with the training occupation: model builder, his work was rated as the BEST in his trade.
After his 1-year community service, he will be part of Modellbau Kurtenbach from March 1st, 2000. Thanks to his great commitment, his diligence, his innovations and his never-ending thirst for knowledge, he was granted power of attorney in 2009 and five years later in 2014 he was given the management.

After Mr. Kurtenbach left in January 2022, Mr. Kraus followed in his footsteps and continues the company – with valuable experience from the past and new ideas for the future. We are looking forward to an exciting time with many interesting projects.
The entire team at Kurtenbach Modellbau GmbH stands behind our new boss and wishes him all the best for the future.

The best thing about the future is that it’s dutifully served to us one day at a time.
– Abraham Lincoln

Farewell to Managing Director
Udo Kurtenbach

Udo Kurtenbach’s apprenticeship started on August 1st, 1971 and ended when he passed his exam on January 31st, 1975.
After successfully passing the master craftsman’s examination in 1982, he was appointed shareholder and manager of the newly named Kurtenbach Modellbau GmbH in 1983. The company grows so that in 1989 it moves from Mitteldorf to Neunkirchen to a newly built, larger facility.

An era comes to an end
Udo Kurtenbach celebrated 50 years of service in 2021. In the 50 years he managed the fortunes of the company for almost 40 years. He made Kurtenbach Modellbau GmbH what it is today as the successor to the senior boss Josef Kurtenbach: a medium-sized company that looks expectantly and well-equipped to the future.
On January 1st, 2022, the time had come to hand over the business and concerns to the next generation, his long-standing authorized signatory and second managing director Gregor Kraus.

Mr. Kurtenbach will continue to support us in 2022 with his valuable advice.
The entire team at Kurtenbach Modellbau GmbH would like to thank our new senior boss and wish him all the best for the future.

When you retire, you no longer have to do what is profitable, you can do what is worthwhile.
– Ernst Reinhardt

Christmas 2018

It comes around every year…
We hope the holiday season brings you some moments of peace and quiet. Time to breathe easy, time for family and friends, time to slow down and relax. Time to say thank you. And we would like to extend our thanks to you – for our good working relationship and for exciting projects. Enjoy a few days off, and we look forward to another year of exciting beginnings and new opportunities.
We have company holidays from 24.12.2018 to 01.01.2019

DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 successfully introduced!

The Q policy has been extended and adapted to the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 with the new creation of the QM manual.

The new QM manual describes the scope of application of the management system and the business context. We have fully implemented aspects of ISO 9001:2015 and completely fulfilled the risk-based approach of identifying opportunities and risks with regard to internal and external issues, interested parties and processes. The safety and health checks in all areas of work with activity details and hazard factors received a favorable assessment. The clean production area with clear areas of responsibility and contact persons, as well as the detailed maintenance records for machines and their continuous calibration, were also assessed positively.
IN SUMMARY: We have effectively implemented a QM system that complies with DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 standards. And it was easy to do – thanks to the fact that we all love our jobs and work together as a team!

The new certificate is available in German and English in our download area.

Successful team building – by land and by sea!

Kurtenbach Modellbau GmbH went on a field trip on July 20, 2018. After an opulent breakfast we took a bus to the island of Grafenwerth, where we found preparations had been made for us. First were some team games on land, namely an outdoor Parkour course. Working in groups, we mastered many challenges before building rafts to continue our journey in the water. We built different groups and after a short introduction to knotting we received ropes, buoys and trunks. There were no limits to our creativity. Before we went on the water we were fitted out with life jackets (just in case!) and paddles. Unfortunately we did not achieve the goal of not falling into the water – but no one really minded getting wet, as it was cool and refreshing!
The adventure ended with a delicious evening meal and chilled drinks as well as pleasant conversations.

MoKu on Tour

Modellbau Kurtenbach is away on a field trip on July 20, 2018. The motto is team building. We’ll be back with a full report on July 23.

Move to new office building

Just before the year 2017 came to an end we were able to move into our newly built premises. From the ground-breaking ceremony in April 2017 to the move in December 2017, it was an exciting time for all of us. Now we can welcome our customers in a bright and modern conference room, where they can feel at home while we respond to their wishes and plan new projects with them. The CAD department has moved into an open-plan office and now has enough space to discuss ongoing projects with customers. We are looking forward to your visit.

Dear customers, dear partners and everyone who is visiting us at the moment,

we hope the holiday season brings you some moments of peace and quiet. Time to breathe easy, time for family and friends, time to slow down and relax. Time to say thank you. And we would like to extend our thanks to you – for our good working relationship and for exciting projects. Enjoy a few days off, and we look forward to another year of exciting beginnings and new opportunities.
Merry Christmas!

We are on holiday from 23 December 2017 to 5 January 2018.

Siemens NX 10 CAD Training Employees

In order to remain up-to-date in the complex field of design tasks, our members attend training sessions regularly. The latest “NX 10 CAD Basic Training” course, organized by CAE Engeneering und Service GmbH, lasted one week and provided our two employees with basic and advanced knowledge about NX and mechanical engineering.

Two new apprentices

This year we were able to award two (intercultural, integrative) training positions.
The two apprentices started their training period at the “Berufliche Schulen Biedenkopf” on 1 August 2017 and will finish in 2021 after three-and-a-half years as journeymen in the field of “model making with specialization in production model making.”
We are pleased that our team continues to grow!
